2nd XI 19/11/16 v Leek 2

Stafford 4 – 1 Leek

Despite a recent turn of fortune for the second team they couldn’t maintain it this week losing out to Leek by 4 goals to 1.

The score line did not reflect the run of play and Stafford deserved to get a result from this game. The majority of play was in the opposition’s half, Leek keeper making several good saves to deny Stafford a goal.

The first goal came from Leek who struck hard and fast after a break from midfield and a similar second goal beating the Stafford line of defence with a glancing pass across the goal mouth and a high sweeping goal into the netting.

Stafford managed to equalise just before half time when Becky Blakey swept the ball across the goal mouth and sweetly finished by newcomer to the team Rosie Cowie.

The second half brought more disappointment, Stafford maintaining a dominating presence but only to be beaten by a penalty corner routine and yet another break.
